Fox News Channel covers job training, other work of Culinary School

Feb. 18, 2010

A news crew from the Atlanta office of FOX News Channel spent Thursday at the Community Culinary School of Charlotte. Reporters interviewed students and staff, and took pictures of preparations for the biweekly BISTRO!

At about 9:30 a.m., there was a live video feed to the network's stations nationwide from the Distribution Street kitchen. Thereafter, the reporters and bloggers in the news crew posted a number of other items on the FOX News website.

One focus of the day's coverage was on the School, an institution that prepares adults for the workplace. But another theme was how the recession has broadened the school's work from its base in helping students overcome barriers to employment like a history of addiction or incarceration, to a much broader task of assisting people whose jobs disappeared during the recession, find new opportunities in the culinary service industry.

Above, a Fox News Channel cameraman interviews Friendship Trays Kitchen Manager Sibyl Durant, Culinary School Executive Director Ron Ahlert, and Friendship Trays Assistant Cook Tammy Curry. Durant and Curry are graduates of the School.

Below are video clips and links to other pieces of reporting from the Fox News Channel visit to Distribution Street.
