Seeing the miracle of 2401-A Distribution Street is believing.

Two Charlotte-based nonprofits cooperating to address hunger issues. Each bringing expertise to the table to solve community problems:

Friendship Trays, Charlotte-Mecklenburg's primary meals-on-wheels program, depends on more than 100 volunteers each weekday to serve hundreds of people who for reasons of age or infirmity are unable to prepare the nutritious diet they need for good health. The program, formed in 1976,  keeps its costs low by using donated food wherever possible.

The Community Culinary School of Charlotte offers the training in food safety and food preparation that can lead to better-paying jobs for underemployed adults, many of whom are trying to move beyond a history of incarceration, drug or alcohol abuse or other wrong turns. Students in the three-month program learn in the classroom and in an industrial kitchen, helping to prepare hundreds of meals each weekday for the meals-on-wheels program.

We'd like you to see this cooperative spirit in action. Call us at 704-375-4500 to let us know on which of the dates listed above you will be coming to visit. Or e-mail Chef Ron.

Breakfast prepared in the Distribution Street kitchen will be served.

The Breakfast Tour is designed to introduce people to the miracle of 2401-A Distribution Street.
